Emulsions are formed during oil exploitation due to the presence of natural surfactants, such as asphaltenes and resins.
Before sending crude to the distillation tower in refinery, all water has to be removed from crude. To break this crude emulsion after desalting process, demulsifier & wetting agents are being used.
Wetting agents are chemical substances that increase the spreading and penetrating properties of a liquid by lowering the surface tension, i.e. tendency of its molecules to adhere to each other at the surface.
Applications
- Easy & fast water separation from the crude during desalting application
- Production separator - Efficient performance in the separator at optimum temperature and pressure.
